This week, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) launched a new web-based report called the Electricity Monthly Update, replacing the Monthly Flash Estimates for Electric Power Data. This new product introduces a feature story, interactive graphics, a new presentation flow, and new electricity industry data sources.
The report is organized into four sections:
This is a nice start to understanding the various electric rates throughout the United States. However, the market is so volatile that even a weekly report can become outdated very quickly. Electric rates also depend on other factors, such as your usage and load requirements, as well as your credit rating. If you are paying more than what a graph like this one is showing for your state, you may be paying to much for your electricity!
